Na cerimônia do Oscar de 2023 não tivemos muitas surpresas. Premiando grandes atores e ideias, o tom sóbrio e de reerguida de Hollywood se fez presente nas principais categorias. Houve muita emoção na premiação de Melhor Ator, com Brendan Fraser, e Melhor Atriz com, Michelle Yeoh, além da apresentação de Rihanna na noite que consagrou o filme Tudo em Todo Lugar ao Mesmo Tempo (da produtora independente A24) como maior vencedor da noite
Nenhuma dúvida de quem ganharia esse ano, mais ainda do que os outros anos, houve um respeito aos prêmios dados pelos críticos e pela academia em geral, sindicatos e outros indicadores tradicionais que são termômetro pro Oscar.
Na categoria de Melhor Filme e Melhor Direção ganharam de maneira já previsível o incrível filme Tudo em Todo Lugar ao Mesmo Tempo, ganhando também junto com o filme o prêmio de Melhor Atriz para a atriz Michele Yeoh, primeira mulher asiática a ganhar nessa categoria na história, um importante marco em Hollywood, que sempre trata categorias assim como "prata da casa". Brendan Fraser, um ator que marcou nossa infância com seus filmes de aventuras bobocas, agora ganha na categoria principal do Oscar pelo filme "A Baleia", o que também estava mais ou menos previsto pelos indicadores.
Para Melhor Filme Estrangeiro, temos o remake do clássico filme pacifista alemão, que originalmente em 1931 era uma mensagem de paz da Alemanha, o que é incrivelmente atual com as tensões na Europa contemporânea entre Rússia e Ucrânia.
O remake foi uma tentativa de relembrar a necessidade de se fazer mensagem pró paz nos tempos atuais, outra categoria já imagina, dada ao caráter mais "sério" e generalista que a cerimônia teve esse ano. Outro filme indicado foi o filme Argentina, 1985 de Santiago Mitre, mostrando a tentativa de punir os torturadores e assassinos da ditadura argentina. O filme foi feito com produção da Amazon, e conta também com Ricardo Darín que interpreta o promotor Julio Strassera no primeiro julgamento que condenaria parte dos crimes das ditaduras do cone sul.
Uma surpresa foi o filme Women Talking que ganhou na categoria de Melhor Roteiro Adaptado,o filme é um drama dirigido por Sarah Polley, baseado no livro homônimo de Miriam Toews, e inspirado em eventos ocorridos em uma remota comunidade de Manitoba na Bolívia. O elenco inclui Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley, Judith Ivey, Ben Whishaw, e também Frances Mcdormand, que serviu como produtora geral do filme.
